Our Story
Rooted in the Ghats.
Sahya Roots began with a single question: why does the best cardamom in the world rarely reach the people who cook with it?
The source.
The Western Ghats — the Sahyadri range — is one of the world's eight biodiversity hotspots. Idukki district in Kerala sits at its heart, and it is here that the finest green cardamom grows.
We work directly with small family farms in these highlands. No auction houses. No commodity brokers. Just a direct relationship between grower and buyer.
The standard.
Every batch is graded by hand — sorted for pod size, colour uniformity, and volatile oil content. Only pods that meet our threshold leave the farm.
We seal immediately after grading. Cardamom loses its fragrance fast once exposed to air. Our packaging is designed to preserve what the farm worked years to produce.
The name.
Sahya is the ancient name for the Western Ghats — the mountain range that gives our cardamom its character. Roots, because everything we do traces back to the soil.
We are not a spice brand. We are a direct line from a specific place to your kitchen.
